ILLUSIONIST

I saw Sylvain Chomet's 'The Illusionist' earlier which was so so nice. I particularly liked the ventriloquist with his mini-me dummy, but couldn't find a picture.
I wandered around the Bridget Riley mini exhibition at the National Gallery after, which opened today funnily enough. Any excuse to sit in front of some Hogarth and 'an experiment on a bird in the air pump' for a while. I also discovered Pontormo, whose figures are like little jewels or quality sweet wrappers. Lovely day.

The best animation i've ever seen

I just saw Madame Tutli- Putli on Sky Arts and it's the most eerily beautiful thing. I looked it up and found the 17 minute film took 4 years to make and was a combination of live action and stop motion which explains the uncanny humanity of the characters in the movements, in particular the eyes. Unsurprisingly it was nominated for the oscar (as was another notable animation "I met the Walrus" which was one of my first posts on this blog.)

i hate dogs

i feel a bit uncomfortable and at a bit of a loss. and increasingly nervous in case i get nearly attached by that twat of a dog. so this is what it has come to? great. and i could so nearly have got my mac today. what. the. fuck. what's a brother got to do? safe to say im in one of my moods again. Im listening to the Walkmen which although lovely, isn't really helping.

I Met the Walrus

I saw this a couple of years ago on the culture show and was blown away.
It flows so nicely with the words and images seamlessly working together. there's no wonder that it was nominated for the oscar.

i would die happy if i could do anything remotely like this.

The Epic of Gilgamesh or The Unnameable Little Broom

I saw this on Sky Arts a few days ago and thought it was the best thing i'd seen in ages. I found it really hypnotising. And the organ that swells every so often makes it so chillingly lovely.
